Fillype Souza, GC

Fillype Souza has always known the magic of a great outdoor space. Growing up around family barbecues, he learned early on how important it is to have a place where people can kick back, connect, and make memories. To him, outdoor spaces aren’t just functional — they’re little retreats from everyday life.

With over a decade of construction experience, Fillype got his start on Martha’s Vineyard, working on everything from new builds and full remodels to commercial projects. As more people started seeking him out for his skills, he launched Acadia Outdoors to focus on what he loves most: creating amazing outdoor spaces.

When he’s not building, you’ll probably find Fillype fishing, hiking, snowboarding, or hanging out at the beach. His love for the outdoors is what drives him to design spaces that bring people together and make every day feel a little more special.

It really depends on the size and design. Most decks only take a few days to finish, but if you’re going for something larger or more detailed — like over 1,000 square feet or with a complex layout — it might take a little longer.
Choosing between composite and wood decks really comes down to what matters most to you. If you’re looking for something that’s super low maintenance and built to last, composite is a solid pick — it can go 25–30 years or more with hardly any upkeep. Just keep in mind, it does cost more upfront and doesn’t have quite the same natural look as wood.
We’ve got you covered when it comes to permits and plans — we’ll take care of it all if needed. As for cost, it really depends on the size of the project and any engineering involved.
It really depends on the size and design. Some railings, especially if you’re going for something fancy on a big deck, can add $20k or more to the project. The best thing to do is give us a call, and we can give you a rough estimate. If it sounds like it’s in your budget, we’ll come out for an on-site estimate to give you a more accurate number.
